Home Pet Euthanasia

What to Expect

After arrival at your home, a few minutes will be spent greeting you and your pet. At that time, we will also answer any questions you may have, as well as review paperwork and accept payment. This will allow full focus to be on you and your pet for the remainder of the appointment.

Comfort

First, we will find a perfect, cozy spot for your pet, whether that is outside, or in the house on his own bed. Then, your pet will be given a first injection of sedation and pain medication to ease any discomfort they may have. This will allow them to fully relax and be in a perfect state of calm and comfortable sleep for the next injection.

Peaceful Passing

When the sedation has taken affect and your pet is fully asleep, and when you are as ready as you will ever be, we will then proceed with a second injection. This will provide the final gift of euthanasia to your pet. This is essentially an overdose of an anesthetic to slow, then stop, the heart. Your pet will pass peacefully and pain-free in a matter of minutes.

Aftercare

Once you are ready, your pet will be prepared for his final rest. You can choose from home burial, private cremation with ashes returned to you, or communal cremation with NO ashes returned. For cremation services, we will provide transport to our crematorium, Southern Illinois Pet Crematory Services, in Carlyle, IL.

A memorial paw print can be made if desired.

*Please note: For pets over 30 pounds, assistance will be needed for transport of your pet to the vehicle.
